Our Aim

Summerside KiltWalk leaflet

To enable the children in our care to develop their capacities as successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. To ensure that the children in our care experience stimulating, effective learning in ways that are appropriate to their needs.

We provide opportunities for learning through spontaneous and planned, purposeful play. We use investigations and exploring, events and life experiences, focused learning and teaching. We create a stimulating and exciting learning environment and the children thrive on our many real-life experiences such as shopping, baking and planting and growing vegetables on our allotment. Our other outdoor learning opportunities are in our garden and daily visits to the park and walkways where the children practice and develop investigative skills, problem solving as well as learning to cope with the physical, health and wellbeing challenges of such excursions.

Client Needs

Admissions procedure

After viewing the nursery and completing a registration form arrangements will be made for settling in your child. Normally the child is accompanied on a first visit by a parent or guardian for about an hour. Subsequently the child will attend for one session unaccompanied. No fees are payable for this settling in period.

If your child is absent (holidays/illness) the nursery must be informed as soon as possible. When a child normally attends a minimum of six sessions per week they can within a year take two weeks holidays charged at half the fee rate. If your child is absent through illness for more than one week the fees will again be halved. Without exception fees are payable in advance. If you intend to withdraw your child one month’s notice is required.

Parents of children attending the nursery are required to complete a registration form. This document contains relevant information on the individual child’s needs, contact addresses, doctor’s name and information on the administration of any medication.

Please download the registration form.
